LBR Staff Writer Published 07 July 2017

American Fast Freight (AFF) has acquired Grand Worldwide Logistics (GWW), in a bid to expand its operations in the region.

Based in Chicago of Illinois, GWW provides warehouse and third-party logistics services to the customers in the beverage/spirits, food and paper industries.

The acquisition will add around two million ft² of warehouse space and up to 150 rail spots to the logistics platform of AFF.

GWW offers warehousing, handling and trucking services from its US facilities located in Chicago, Port Newark, Gordonsville, Maple Heights, Charleston, Savannah and Bristol.

It has fully automated inventory control system, which uses bar coding, EDI, RFID, stock rotation and random access location inventory management.

GWW president Dave Schulman has re-invested a major portion of his sale proceeds into AFF, helping to expand the business.

Schulman said: "With the many synergies we share, we will be able to provide new service offerings and value to the customers of both companies.”

AFF president and CEO Kevin Kelly said: "In 2015, we expanded our reach into the Caribbean market with the addition of Caribbean Shipping Services. Last year's acquisition of Global Transportation Services expanded services beyond our primary Jones Act markets of Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico.”

Based in Fife of Washington, AFF and its subsidiaries offer a range of ocean freight forwarding of dry and temperature control goods, trucking, project logistics and warehousing-distribution services.
