Capital Development Partners to develop new logistics facility in Georgia, US

LBR Staff Writer Published 05 March 2018

Capital Development Partners has unveiled plans to build Savannah Port Logistics Center in Pooler, Georgia, US.

The logistics facility will be developed on 197 acres with an investment of around $125m.

It will feature 2.3 million ft² of space with transload, cross-dock, high cube and trailer storage facilities.

The firm will begin construction on the first phase of project in April this year. It will feature an area of 537,000ft² with an option to be expanded to 1,075,000ft².

Expected to be operational in April 2019, the facility will be the GWRR rail line servicing the port.

As part of the second phase, the company will start the construction of a 1,314,000ft² facility by the end of this year.

With over 2,000 trailer storage positions, the industrial facility will include transload capability.

The new logistics facility will provide direct connection onsite to dual Class I railroads through CSX and Norfolk Southern. It also offers better access to the Georgia Ports Authority Garden City, which is claimed to be the largest single container site in North America.

In addition, the facility offers easy access to I-95, I-16, Highway 80, Jimmy DeLoach Parkway, SH Morgan Parkway and Pooler Parkway.

Opened in June 2016, the Panama Canal expansion holds capacity to accommodate ships carrying triple the number of 20-foot container units.

Capital Development Partners CEO Knox Porter said: “This is one of the largest and most significant development projects in the Southeast.

“Industrial land with good development fundamentals is extremely limited near the Port of Savannah.

“Savannah Port Logistics Center will meet the needs of national and global companies that are interested in import, export and using Savannah as a hub to service their clients.”

With offices in Atlanta, Savannah, Houston and New York, Capital Development Partners is engaged in the development of e-commerce, manufacturing, logistics and infrastructure facilities in the US.
