Durbell to invest in distribution business

LBR Staff Writer Published 01 February 2012

Durbell, a logistics partner of Red Bull energy drink in Thailand, is planning to invest THB500m ($16m) in its distribution business as a part of its strategic growth to expand facilities and services to cover more outside clients.

Durbell was established in 2002 to distribute products under Krating Daeng Group, including Puriku ready-to-drink tea and Sponsor energy drink.

According to the company the investment will be used to buy about 300 trucks and build three new warehouses in Chanthaburi, Phuket and Sakon Nakhon or Lop Buri.

Durbell managing director Adisorn Limnarong said the company expect about 20% of its sales this year will be contributed by outside companies and another 80% from Red Bull Beverage's products.

Last year the company had entered into a distribution agreement with Procter & Gamble Manufacturing (Thailand) to distribute its 600 product items in six provinces east of Bangkok.

The company said that its distribution network covers 4,200 wholesalers and 100,000 retailers throughout the country, and are able to handle about 28,000 pallets totally.
