GAC opens new contract logistics facility in Dubai

LBR Staff Writer Published 11 May 2018

GAC Dubai has inaugurated a new contract logistics facility, in the Logistics District of Dubai South.

The new facility complements the existing contract logistics facilities in the Jebel Ali and Dubai Airport Free Zones and expands the total capacity in the region to over 170,000 pallet positions to better serve customers in the local and regional markets.

GAC Dubai has developed the new 45,900 pallet, two-chamber temperature and humidity-controlled facility to serve various product categories, comprising fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverage, beauty products and dangerous goods (DG) of classes 2, 3, 5.1 and 8.

The new location also includes a 2,400m² value-added services (VAS) facility, which provides a range of value-added services as per the customers’ requirements and international quality standards.

GAC Group Middle East vice president Fredrik Nyström said: “Growth in tourism, trade and aviation sectors in the lead-up to Expo 2020 is set to drive increased domestic consumption, and we are confident that our new contract logistics facility will be able to meet the growth projections of our customers and businesses in Dubai and the region.”

GAC has deployed latest technology in the warehouse and supporting facilities.

The facility, which features an eco-friendly cooling plant and advanced building management systems, uses 100% recycled water, LED lighting with motion sensors and solar power.

In addition, the facility is also installed with black water treatment plant that recycles water for use in cooling towers.

GAC Dubai contract logistics general manager Neil McMaster said: “With its strategic location linking to the dedicated logistics corridor to Jebel Ali port, direct access to Al Maktoum International Airport and exit gates leading directly to the UAE’s main trans-Emirates highways, our 24/7 transportation and distribution services at Dubai South enable us to meet our customers’ needs for speedy time-to-market delivery.”
