GE Transportation selects project44 to enhance multimodal data connectivity capabilities

LBR Staff Writer Published 07 March 2018

GE Transportation has selected project44’s modern SaaS platform to expand its multimodal data connectivity capabilities.

The project44’s advanced SaaS platform will be integrated with GE Transportation’s railroad and shipper product suites, helping to maintain a better port-to-door supply chain ecosystem.

The combined solution will help to connect transportation data from railroad networks, yards, intermodal terminals and maritime ports into a single transportation management workflow.

It will allow transportation providers, logistics providers and cargo owners to access standardized and real-time data to enhance the capacity and fluidity of their entire supply chain.

With the support of the new solution, the supply chain providers, including railroads cargo owners and logistics providers, across the ecosystem can monitor and respond to dynamic conditions, as well as proactively communicate and collaborate.

GE Transportation transport logistics general manager and vice president Jennifer Schopfer said: “The smartest and most efficient supply chains have full transparency across modes and nodes into pricing, routes, pickups, tracking, documents and payments – and that is exactly what project44 is helping us to achieve.

project44 president Tommy Barnes said: “GE Transportation leads the industry by combining decades of domain leadership with next generation data and analytics to create a more visible and predictive transportation ecosystem.

“Their focus on connecting shippers, receivers, ports, terminals, trucks, ships and railcars demonstrates the importance of digitizing and standardizing shipment data to make it accessible and usable to all stakeholders, and we’re honored to help power their cutting-edge initiatives now and in the future.”

GE Transportation, a division of General Electric (GE), offers equipment, services and digital solutions to the rail, mining, marine, stationary power and drilling industries.

Based in Chicago of Illinois, GE Transportation employs around 9,000 people across the globe.

The project44 offers end-to-end visibility solution for the multimodal transportation providers and partners to beet control supply chain solutions.

In another development, Port of Long Beach has launched data-sharing project with GE Transportation to enhance cargo flow efficiencies.

Earlier this month, GE Transportation joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance, the transportation and logistics industry’s trade association for blockchain education and standards development.
