Körber acquires logistics-focused IT firm Centriq

LBR Staff Writer Published 22 June 2018

German technology firm Körber has acquired Centriq Group, a UK-based provider of voice-directed warehousing and modeling solutions, for an undisclosed price.

Headquartered in Blackpool, Centriq provides IT solutions in the logistics, supply chain and retail sectors.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Körber’s Business Area Logistics Systems, which offers digital solutions for smart factories, warehouses, e-commerce, and the management of entire supply chains.

Centriq Group CEO David Stanhope said: "We estimate that more than 90% of warehouses across the world are yet to adopt voice technology.

"Together with the existing SCM portfolio of Körber Logistics Systems, we will be able to strengthen our international platform and - thanks to the integrated offerings portfolio - provide more benefits for our customers."

The transaction includes including Centriq’s voice solution business Voiteq and also its modeling and simulation business Cirrus Logistics.

Voiteq through its VoiceMan product suite provides voice software solutions and services.

On the other hand, Cirrus Logistics offers software and services through its Class, Cost2Serv and Marine Enterprise Suite (MES) applications that employ advanced optimization and simulation techniques to develop and implement supply chain strategies.

Centriq's main customers for its products hail from the food and beverage, retail, and third party logistics (3PL) sectors.

Körber group executive board chairman Stephan Seifert said: "With the successful acquisition of Centriq we have added another key component to our logistics portfolio. Its excellent team will enable us to strengthen our internationally leading position in the SCM segment with access to multinational project opportunities.

"Moreover, we will bring added value to our existing and future customers as we will be able to offer a more comprehensive product and service portfolio on a global scale."

Körber said that the acquisition of Centriq complements Vitech Business Group, its existing North American voice business. The enlarged organization after the acquisition will be able to provide a range of products and services to enable global customers to gain the considerable benefits of voice-directed work.
