Kuehne + Nagel opens integrated logistics control centre in Bogotá, Colombia

LBR Staff Writer Published 27 June 2018

Swiss transport and logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel has opened a new integrated logistics control centre (LCC) in Bogotá, Colombia.

The facility has been developed for integrated logistics in South and Central America.

The new LCC will help the company to further expand its offering of end-to-end solutions from a single source.

Kuehne + Nagel integrated logistics global head Tobias Jerschke said: “By strengthening our integrated logistics network with the 9th LCC globally, we are able to better leverage our innovative value chain solutions also across our growing customer base in South & Central America.”

Kuehne + Nagel has built the new LCC to provide digital supply chain management in a shared environment, helping to meet demand from customers for integrated logistics and fulfilling needs for lean and demand-driven supply chains in South and Central America.

Based on data analytics and continuous improvement methodologies, the new centre will offer customers with tailored solutions focusing on cost efficiency, reducing supply chain complexity and increasing supply chain performance.

According to the company, the new LCC is fully linked to the global LCC network in terms of standard processes and leading technology.

Kuehne + Nagel South and Central America president Ingo Goldhammer said: “This investment represents our commitment to the region and our customers. The LCC will especially benefit multinational corporations with complex international supply chains.

“We are pleased to further enhance our existing partnerships especially with our leading pharma, healthcare and beauty industry customers by an upgraded infrastructure and optimised set-up of services and customer-related teams.”

Earlier this year, Kuehne + Nagel collaborated with Singapore-based investment company Temasek to launch a joint venture (JV) for investments in logistics technology start-ups.

The JV will focus on early stage companies engaged in developing technologies and services that can transform traditional business models in logistics.
