Siemens to establish global logistics headquarters in Dubai

LBR Staff Writer Published 17 April 2017

Siemens has unveiled plans to establish a global headquarters (HQ) in Dubai for airports, cargo and ports logistics.

The new logistics headquarters will be built at the site of Expo 2020 Dubai, once the next World Expo completes in April 2021.

The company will shift some of its crucial businesses to the 4.38km² Dubai South site, which will help to benefit from the industrial and logistics developments in the region.

Siemens will use the existing infrastructure, as well as permanent buildings of Expo 2020 Dubai for its future global logistics headquarters.

The new global HQ will feature bases for Siemens’ airports, cargo infrastructure and ports teams.

It will be used to carry out different operations, including global management and strategy, research and development, innovation, software development, sales, assembly, and production.

Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser said: “Siemens has a long history in Expo partnerships and we are delighted to be a Premier Partner for Intelligent Infrastructure & Operations leveraging our open IoT operating System Mindsphere for Expo 2020 Dubai and beyond.

“Through this collaboration, we look forward to supporting Dubai’s sustainable development goals with our innovative solutions helping bring the emirate closer to its ambition of becoming one of the world’s smartest cities.”

In addition, Expo 2020 Dubai has announced that Siemens will serve as a premier partner for intelligent infrastructure and operations to offer a range of solutions, technologies and products to effectively operate an expo.
