Solent Stevedores opens empty container facility at DP World London Gateway Port

Solent Stevedores has opened a new empty container yard at DP World London Gateway Port, UK.

The new five-acre off-dock yard will provide a range of next-generation empty container handling and storage services from an integrated deep-sea port and logistics hub.

Located on berth 7, the new facility is developed outside the terminal’s ISPS perimeter and next to the port’s main gate, enabling to further invest for expanding port and its neighbouring logistics park.

Solent Stevedores will also offer multiple associated container services from the facility.

The company started work on the new facility in 2017, and is said to complement the firm’s storage services at other ports in the UK.

Solent Stevedores managing director Fiona Robson said: “Located on London’s doorstep, with first-class road, rail and sea transport links, the new London Gateway site means we can offer our users an enhanced service that enables them to significantly streamline their operations.

 “The launch of the site follows expansion of our successful service offerings at Port of Southampton, Port of St Helier, Port of Immingham and Silvertown, London.”

DP World London Gateway port commercial head James Leeson said: “The network of services available via London Gateway is now truly global, with access available into or out of the port from all of the world’s major economic centres.”

Solent Stevedores offers a range of bulk and general cargo handling and storage services at the Port of Southampton, the Port of St. Helier - Jersey, the Port of Immingham and Silvertown, London.

The firm also provides cruise vessel sapport services to cruise operators at the Port of Southampton.

DP World London Gateway Port is an integrated logistics hub, which connects deep-sea port and rail terminal.

DP World offers various supply chain services ranging from marine and inland terminals, maritime services, logistics and ancillary services to technology-driven trade solutions.
