Wincanton wins five-year contract from LPG supplier AvantiGas

LBR Staff Writer Published 14 May 2018

British logistics provider Wincanton has secured a new five-year contract from liquid petroleum gas (LPG) supplier AvantiGas.

Since 12 years, Wincanton has been providing services to AvantiGas, and the current deal will extend its service up to 2023.

As part of new five-year contract, Wincanton will transport LPG and aerosol propellants to large commercial customers.

The deal also includes supporting of AvantiGas fleet for domestic deliveries at times of peak demand.

Wincanton will employ over 50 drivers, with built-in flexibility allowing AvantiGas to be flexible with their resources, based on seasonal requirements and changes in persisting weather conditions.

AvantiGas will use their own in-house driving team for the management of regular and summer season domestic demand.

The deal with Wincanton will allow AvantiGas to better respond to expected and unforeseen demand spikes and reduce the possible impact on their customers.

To better serve customers, Wincanton installed its fleet with MiX telematics system, which includes advanced driver safety features.

The end-to-end solution offers fleet operators with tools, which enables to operate with optimum levels of efficiency and safety.

MiX telematics solution includes on-board computer, online tracking and information portal, as well as offers access to valuable fleet and driver reports and analytics

Wincanto energy director Jonathan Shortis said: “The key to this contract is scalability. The ability to augment their core retained driving team with highly trained and safety-conscious support provides maximum flexibility for AvantiGas.”

AvantiGas logistics manager Andrew Cauldwell said: “We pride ourselves on finding innovative ways to improve our distribution resilience and customer service and our Wincanton partnership is a key element of this.

“Wincanton’s flexible approach and commitment to innovation in the contract are what attracted us, again, to their bid.”

With around 17,500 employees across over 200 sites, Wincanton offers supply chain consultancy and solutions to its customers across the globe.
