XPO Logistics renews supply chain contract with Maxxium UK

XPO Logistics has extended its contract with spirits company Maxxium UK for providing warehousing and managed transportation services.

XPO will store the spirits firm’s stock in its 125000ft2 customs warehouse logistics plant in Mossend, Scotland, which is approved by HM Revenue and customs rules.

Under the contract, XPO will be responsible for packing the products for distributing to the customers.

The logistics will also collaborate with local transportation providers to enhance customer service and reduce costs.

It will also provide flexibility via a satellite model and additional capacity at peak times through warehouses that are strategically located.

Maxxium business services director Gary Thomson said: "Having worked with XPO for a number of years, we are confident in the team's ability to manage the storage and distribution of our brands.

“XPO's flexible warehousing and distribution solution in Mossend has enabled us to optimize our stock holding during times of peak demand. This supports our drive to deliver superior service and excellent execution across our supply chain.”

XPO business unit director Peter Fuller said: "Maxxium has been an important customer of ours since 1999. The expertise of our dedicated Mossend team is particularly evident during the three months a year when Maxxium realizes 50 percent of sales. XPO will provide a class-leading solution for Maxxium and their customers."

With around 90,000 employees and 1,425 locations across 31 countries, XPO Logistics provides transportation and logistics services to around 50,000 customers.

The suite of products from Maxxium include The Famous Grouse and The Macallan Scotch whiskies, Jim Beam bourbon and Courvoisier cognac.
